Frequently Asked Questions ...
Planning a wedding vintage in the winter?
I am married to 4 December 2010 I know I want a vintage-inspired wedding. I'm doing a lot of research about winter weddings. I've noticed that winter wedding colors are generally are the typical colors such as silver winter blues and whites. Or red and green and black. They are all dark colors or colors of ice and cold. None of this really something I would choose. The colors I really want a dusty rose, cream / ivory, and a light antique gold. My question is, these colors are stupid in December Wedding. I live in the Rocky Mountains and there is snow on the ground. I am sticky with decor, vintage does not fight, and would not be stupid in the winter. Any suggestions. I do not want floral centerpieces, if I can avoid it.

Vintage Hang Gliding at Little Mountain 1973-74
While details are obviously summary, it is believed that around 6000 BC, grapes were grown and wine was made in Mesopotamia (Now Iraq).
Mesopotamia and Egypt
Wine was popular with the pharaohs of Egypt old from British Columbia in 3000. Inscriptions and illustrations of grape harvesting and wine were found in a number of graves.
Many temples have vines attached thereto, it is believed that wine was used for religious ritual. However, as yet true today, the majority of Egyptian wine was produced in the Nile Delta region.
The wine was stored in clay jars, wooden barrels were unknown to the ancient Egyptians.
Greece
The exact date that winemaking started in Greece is unknown. However, the remains of a stone wine press, dating from around 1600BC, have been found in a villa in Crete. Wine consumption in Greece Ancient had strong associations with the cult of the god Dionysus. With the rise of Greek influence throughout the Mediterranean and Black Sea, the vines were introduced to areas as far away as Spain, France, Italy and Georgia. It is believed that a number of traditional varieties Southern Italian (eg Aglianico) were introduced by the Greeks.
Roman Empire
The Romans continued the developments started by the Greeks. The wine was exported to all parts of the Roman Empire including France, Great Britain and the Rhineland region of Germany. Vineyards have been planted in many of these areas. The Romans documented different grape varieties and soil types that produced the highest yields. They also introduced wooden barrels and glass bottles for the wine trade, although these articles do not completely replace clay amphorae for storage wine.
During the Dark Ages, vineyards were maintained by the monasteries as a source of communion wine. These wine producers have laid the groundwork for much of the modern wine industry today across Europe.
Since Neil Best first pondered the question, Who made the first wine anyway? he's been recording his findings at Good Glug.
