Lennox China - The presidents of Crockery
Lenox was launched in 1889 by its founder Walter Scott Lennox. Born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1859, the first Center for American ceramics industry in that time, Walter Lennox combined his interest in drawing and clay and began work in a pottery factory as a designer and decorator 16. When he turned 22, he became Ott & Brewer joined as director of design. Ott & Brewer eventually folded a few years later and that's when he decided it was time to make his own. Barely seven years after taking the director of design Walter Lennox has launched his own company in the Lenox Ceramic Art Company opened its doors in 1889. Walter started his ceramics as an art and even placed his new venture as an art studio rather than a factory. Most of his early productions were one-of-a-kind in ivory china. Lenox China was originally made to buy only 18 employees and consisted of a line of vases, pitchers and tea sets. As had laid the foundations of its productions to be considered art, they were collected by the most elite shopping time. In 1897, up the Smithsonian Institution showed a collection of Lennox China. In the early 1900s dining nice house became vague and Lennox was fast the transition of his company to manage the country needs new dishes. It began offering complete sets of dishes for families in the exclusive in 1902 at the beginning, the fight against European control over the trade of fine porcelain. As America's demand for Lennox China continued to grow, he changed the company name to Lenox Incorporated to reflect its shift in the philosophy of the Society of ceramic art in more than one company mass production. The first company of large scale production of Lennox came to China in 1910 and were modeled with transfer prints which were then colored by hand. In 1917, China went from Lennox color lithographic drawings. The two original drawings, Mandarin and Ming, were popular in America for over 50 years. These decals that each piece of tableware was decorated exactly the same thing and created a type mark of inspection. The hosts were very happy to have new designs on their table were easy to recognize that their clients knew they could afford Lennox China. Lennox was known as the China of the United States. In 1918, the White House has ordered 1,700 pieces services of the state official. Lennox China was the first American to China for use in the White House and has remained so since.
