How do candles get hot?

I am looking candle that this project Votive / candle holder. The project has high heat Parafinotherapie wax. I would prefer to use soy or beeswax. So I try to find out how hot receive votive candles and I can not seem to find it anywhere. I do not want to sub out of the wax when the votive is too hot and melt the owners. Who knows how hot votives get?
