Five reasons to try your hand at Art Found
When considering the prospect of artistic creation is (also called Junk art), you can ask yourself if it is in fact an art form. To this I say, look at the artist's work Andy Goldsworthy photographs (more surprising that her artistic eye is the fact that all of his art was left in the wild to be destroyed by the elements). Or think about your course of art history and the first time you saw Marcel Duchamp's famous Fountain (yes, it's a urinal). Well styles of these two artists could differ from such a degree that you think they are part of the same movement, that fact simply illustrates the idea found art in all its forms, open to interpretation and arrangement of the letter everyone.
1. It is modern. In fact, it began in the early 20th century as a response to (or rebel against) the so-called "art" of generations earlier, helping to kick off the modernist movement in the art world and become a part of these later movements like surrealism and Dada. So while this may seem a load of rubbish, it is actually a serious artistic enterprise that many professional artists have tried their luck.
2. It is cheap. Find art, by definition, consists of elements found. Now, if you find your hardware is entirely up to you, and if you happen to pay a flea market or elsewhere, rather than finding it in the garbage, it is certainly your prerogative. But to adopt the concept is to take advantage of materials that can be recovered through piles of junk, garbage and parks scrap, do not be afraid to do some dumpster-diving in search of artistic gold (just be sure to wear protective equipment).
3. It is easy. You do not need to think too much about things that you will use unless you have a particular message in mind. You can create art is literally everything you find, like pieces of metal, plastic, wood or fabric, scraps of newspapers, machine parts ancient pottery, doll parts, utensils, and even, apparently, urinals. The sky is the limit really.
4. Is liberation. Unlike most art forms, which have specific requirements for tools, resources, and so on (you'd be hard pressed to make a watercolor on canvas treated, for example), the art is completely without rules. You can embed anything in your art and assemble as good you want. Although it may be afraid to take that leap of faith, you will probably find that you are more creative without restrictions and can open your mind a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to expressing yourself artistically.
5. It is environmentally friendly. There is no better way to satisfy your creativity by going green. The use of found objects is a great way to reuse materials that would otherwise go directly to the landfill or spend the next few years rusting in an abandoned lot. So give garbage a second life chance and do the planet a solid even if you design your next great work of art.
